Folau House History

Folau House got its name and its conception during the pandemic. During the pandemic, public spaces were shut down and dance studios were doing Zoom classes to facilitate a stay-at-home order.

Folau House was started by George Folau, a former teacher from Kirkpatrick’s School of Dance. When the pandemic closed Kirkpatrick’s doors, George opened his driveway in front of his house, providing classes for dancers who may have also lost their dance home to the pandemic. That same year, as dance events slowly started to open back up to the public, George competed his Folau House students without missing a beat.

Since then, Folau House has competed in regionals, nationals, performed as guest artists, and continue to train just as they did on that driveway in front of George’s house.

George Folau

Owner/Director Folau House

George Folau started dancing in 2007 at the beginning of his college career. Having graduated from College of San Mateo with an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts and from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism, George chose to follow his passion for dance and teaching post-graduation.

From 2009-2011, he has trained with Academy of Villains, where he went on to teach at Kirkpatrick's School of Dance. George has also danced for Allan Frias in his San Francisco-Based Dance Company, Mind Over Matter.

George has coached Hip Hop and assistant coached Pom and Lyrical for Mercy High School Burlingame’s Dance Team with 2x State and National Championship wins, has choreographed group numbers that have been performed at games for The Golden State Warriors, has won Regional and National Overalls for Kirkpatrick's School of Dance in Hip Hop and Contemporary as a dancer, a choreographer and a coach. George was also a Dance Program Coordinator for San Mateo Police Activities League.

During the pandemic, Kirkpatrick’s School of Dance closed its doors after over 60 years teaching performing arts to the Peninsula, giving George the push he needed to pursue starting his own Dance Company and Clothing Line, Folau House. Since Folau House’s conception, Folau House has competed in regionals, nationals and has been guest artists.

Currently, George teaches at Parkside Intermediate School to develop their Dance Program through the long-time Bay Area staple, Spindrift School of Performing Arts of Pacifica, CA under Gary Ferguson and Liliana Davidovich.

George is constantly working on his personal style and enjoys building future dancers that are strong technicians as well as artists and is ready to share that with more dancers looking for a place to train as well.
